OKLAHOMA CITY -

A teenaged girl was mugged at gunpoint by two men on her way home from work, according to an Oklahoma City police report.

Officers are still searching for her alleged attackers.

Shortly after midnight Sunday, the girl says she was leaving a Sonic Drive-In near NW 63rd and Meridian. As she started walking home, she told police, she quickly realized she wasn't alone.

"People should just watch each other before you do what you do," area resident Lamar "L" Conway said. "I mean, it's pretty much crazy."

Police say two men followed a carhop after her shift. The girl called her mom to tell her she was being followed, then the call was disconnected. That's when police say the teen was confronted with a gun.

The girl was one mile away from Sonic when she says the men threatened to shoot her and then take her money. Police say $50 of the girl's tip money was stolen. The teen, who was not hurt, tells police the suspects are tall, skinny black men.

One of the victim's co-workers says she was unaware the girl walked home alone at night.

Fifteen-year business owner veteran Del Wilbern says when it comes to crime in the area, just about everyone points to Meridian Ridge Apartment Homes. The complex is located directly across the street from the Sonic location.

"From the north, it's a great area … but just right here, this little element here has made this not so good anymore," Wilbern said. "The Sonic [has] been hit, this cash place has been hit … Showbiz has been hit."

Business owners say theft is a common theme in the neighborhood, and unfortunately, they say it's getting worse.

The victim tells News 9 she is doing OK but was too upset to talk on camera Wednesday.
