Sky Socked: RedHawks' Explode For 24 To Clobber Colorado Springs

Posted: Updated:

When you're hot, you're hot.

The Oklahoma City RedHawks cranked out 24 runs on 20 hits Saturday night in Bricktown to blow out the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 24-5.

The win is No. 9 in a row for the red-hot RedHawks.

Brandon Laird's three hits and seven RBIs led the way for OKC, while Jonathan Singleton's five RBIs helped things get out of control.

Singleton's first-inning grand slam put OKC up 4-0 early, while the RedHawks followed that up with three more in the second to go up 8-0.

Colorado Springs (56-56) crept back in, scoring four runs over the span of three innings, but George Springer's bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the sixth erased any hope of a comeback.  The four-run sixth put the RedHawks up 12-4, and that's when things just got silly.

The RedHawks (65-50) piled on five more runs in the seventh to go up 17-4 and then just for good measure, dropped seven more runs in the eighth.

Eric Berger pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings out of the pen to earn the win for OKC.

Oklahoma City will go for its 10th straight win Sunday evening in Bricktown.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
