CLINTON, Oklahoma -

With the new school year starting, News 9 received a special request from a man in Clinton, Oklahoma.

Chris Landers is the single father of five children. Four of his kids live with him, including his oldest daughter, 17-year-old Stormi.

Stormi suffers from the auto immune disease Alopecia. Her hair began falling out when she was five years old, and it will probably never grow back.

She has worn wigs over the years, and has endured ridicule from other kids in school. But her father says he marvels at how well she's doing anyway.

"It's just the way she carries herself. She doesn't carry herself in any way other than just the way she is," said Landers. "I'm so proud of her."

About a month ago, Landers learned his daughter put an ad on the internet website Buy/Sell/Trade Southwestern Oklahoma. Stormi's ad asked if anyone knew where she could find a "used" wig.

The wig she's been wearing for several months is frayed and worn out. Landers says his daughter's need for a wig hurts him deeply, because finding the money to pay for it is a tall order.

Landers works for the nearby town of Cordell, and while he appreciates his job immensely, extra money right now is hard to come by.

As for Stormi, she says she's ready for her senior year at Clinton High School, with or without a wig.

"It was hard at first. It really was. But I don't let it get to me anymore," she said.

Due to the number of responses we have received since this story aired, the family will establish a fund at a Clinton bank on Wednesday. We will post more information about the fund as soon as we find out.

We want to say thank you to everyone who have offered to help!
