SEMINOLE COUNTY, Oklahoma -

A vigil just wrapped up for a man shot and killed a year ago by a "drug court officer" in Seminole County.

The shooting of Aaron Palmer was eventually ruled justified, but his family is in the middle of fighting that decision. Family and friends say although it's been one year ago today they lost Aaron Palmer, he was too great of a guy to forget.

"A shame that his life ended so abruptly when it was such a promising young man," said neighbor, Kent Dawson.

Family and friends met near the Seminole Wellness Center for a vigil to honor Palmer. He used to detail cars, and his former boss says he is greatly missed.

"If you went into our shop, you would see his picture up on the wall he's just a part of our family and we love him," said Palmer's boss, Vince Vanlandingham.

Palmer leaves behind his wife, Nicole, and their four year old daughter, Mia. Palmer lost his life last year, when a Seminole County Drug Court officer, who was there to serve a warrant to his father, shot him instead.

"You know somebody's at fault but it's a shame that it happened to Aaron," said Dawson.

The shooting was later ruled justified. It's something Palmer's family is working to fight. Palmer's wife says she plans to hold vigils like tonight's each year to honor her husband.
