TULSA, Oklahoma -

Out of 200 cities in the US, Tulsa found itself right in the middle when it comes to the safest driving cities.

Based on accident reports, insurance company Allstate says the majority of accidents actually happen at lower speeds.

Over the past week, we've seen a number of accidents across Tulsa. Tuesday morning, a rollover sent one person to the hospital and backed up traffic for miles. The day before, a Jeep landed on its side right in front of Woodland Hills Mall.

Over the weekend, there was a three-car-pile-up on Highway 169 that left one car in a mangled mess. And last week, a truck plowed into a Tulsa Public School bus filled with children.

"We just don't realize how fast we're going in a car," said Allstate agent Jimmy Willis.

Out of the largest 200 cities in the US, Allstate ranks Tulsa as the 100th safest driving city.

Depending on if you're a glass half-empty or glass half-full kind of person, that could also mean the city is the 100th worst driving city.

Last year, Tulsa was ranked 95.

"Sadly, Tulsa did drop a little bit, but still it's a great city, and if we all would be more aware, more courteous, let drivers in and kind of back off," Willis said.

Allstate's America's Best Drivers Report says the average Tulsa driver will have a wreck every 10 years, which is 7 percent more likely than the national average.

"I'd say distracted driving, inattentive driving has got to be up there, one of the big factors," said Oklahoma Driver School co-owner Robert Cole.

Cole believes Tulsa's rating could be higher if every new driver was required to take a driving education class with a certified instructor.

Especially, "the people that I observe out there texting and doing other things while they should be focusing on their driving," Cole said.

Although the city didn't earn the best ranking, Allstate agents say this isn't necessarily a bad thing for the city.

Willis said drivers should use this as a wake up call to be more cautious when on the roads.

In case you were wondering, Oklahoma City ranks 81st in safest driving cities. Last year, OKC was number 80.
