One of Oklahoma's Own was chosen to be a part of the interfaith service in Washington, D.C., marking the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.
"This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning, my country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty of thee I sing," said 14-year-old Cierra Fields.
Fields was picked to read a section of that historic speech. She was one of only two youth speakers at Wednesday's event.
Cierra, who is a member of the Cherokee Nation, was selected to represent all 550 of the nation's tribes.
