GUTHRIE, Oklahoma -

The town of Guthrie is busy preparing for the Mumford and Sons' two-day concert event, which will take place next weekend. City officials say more than 35,000 fans are expected to attend the event.

The Mumford and Sons' "Gentlemen of the Road" tour is coming to Guthrie, Oklahoma, a town of about 10,000 residents, on September 6 and 7.

According to Sereniah Breland, City Manager of Guthrie, more than 35,000 fans from all over the world are expected to be at the music event.

"We think the festival will generate more than $300,000 in sales tax revenue for Guthrie," said Breland. "But, I'm hoping for something even bigger. Guthrie is positioned to become a nationally- recognized community that already has the elements of success including a stunning historic downtown, strong bed and breakfast presence, and we're geographically positioned along the fastest-growing corridor in the nation."

The Grammy-award winning Mumford and Sons has five stopovers in the U.S. during the "Gentlemen of the Road" tour. Guthrie is one of them. The band will take the stage in Cottonwood Flats, a grassy, treed venue that's less than a mile north of Guthrie's historic downtown.

The downtown district is also part of the official festival staging area, according to city officials.

Various indie bands, including Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and another Grammy-nominated group, the Alabama Shakes will be playing at the festival.
