STILLWATER, Oklahoma -

Students and fans are speaking out about the serious allegations in the Sports Illustrated piece, and they have strong opinions.

News 9's Abby Broyles has reaction from Stillwater.

Just about everybody has something to say about the story, from the folks at the Stillwater staple, Eskimo Joe's, to the OSU campus. Fans are hoping the allegations aren't true, disappointed if they are, and many are calling the SI investigative piece an attack on their school.

The Sports Illustrated article sent shockwaves through Stillwater.

"All the allegations are 'he said, she said,' and there's really no proof in the pudding," OSU fan Alex Hoppman said.

Some local fans refuse to believe the allegations in the investigative piece. Others are disappointed after reading about allegations of post game cash payments to players from boosters and coaches. Other students say while they don't agree with the alleged behavior, it likely happens in other programs across the country.

"There's so many programs that I'm sure are just doing a better of keeping their mouths shut," OSU student Andrew Wilcox said.

Many people are concerned with how this will affect OSU's image now, saying the current program is getting smeared for what allegedly happened years ago.

"It's putting a rap on Gundy when it shouldn't be that way," Hoppman said.

The Athletic Department is expecting this year to be record breaking for season ticket sales. The university knows how important its fans are.

On Monday, Athletic Director Mike Holder said, "we have a responsibility to those people because they're gonna suffer from this as well."
