TULSA, Oklahoma -

Two Tulsa Police officers are on administrative leave after the department says one of them shot a man holding a knife outside a home near East 28th Street and 116th East Avenue late Thursday.

Police said officers were sent to the home after a woman called about a domestic situation at about 9 p.m.

Officers said the woman told police she was afraid of her estranged husband who had showed up at the house making threats.

Tulsa Police Captain Wendell Franklin said two officers spoke with the woman then noticed the man driving by. He said the man got out of his vehicle and approached the two officers holding a "large knife."

Franklin said the man failed to comply with orders to drop the knife, so one officer fired at least two shots at the man, hitting him once in the abdomen. Franklin said a second bullet may have grazed the man.

Police have identified the two officers as Trevor Peters, 23, and Nate Terrell, 26. Both men have been officers since July 2, 2012.

Police identify the man who was shot as Santos Pedro Sajche-Iszet, 30.

EMSA took him to the hospital but police say he is expected to be okay.
