A Tulsa man is in jail, accused of shooting and killing another man at the McKinley Apartments.

A "petty argument" over a necklace Saturday afternoon escalated into gunfire at the complex located in the 6600 block of East Latimer Place, according to police.

Charles Johnson, 22, was taken by personal vehicle to the hospital, where he died from the gunshot wound to the chest, said homicide detective Sgt. Dave Walker.

Investigators recovered the revolver used in the shooting and learned that the suspect had left in a small black SUV. Through witness interviews, they identified the suspect as Randle Lockett.

Police found out that Lockett lives at a home in the 800 block of North Oswego, then found small black Dodge Caliber parked in the driveway next to the Ford F-150 pickup truck belonging to Lockett.

Homicide detectives called in the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crime Task Force for assistance, and officers watched the house as law enforcement called Lockett on the phone.

Walker said Lockett surrendered just before 9 p.m.

He was booked into jail on a complaint of first degree murder and is being held without bond.

Walker said investigators found out that Lockett was driven to the McKinley Apartments by a woman and another black male, described as 40 years old with dreadlocks. Police said the woman has been interviewed and released, but they are still looking for the man with dreadlocks.

Anyone with information on him is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-2677.

The people who drove Johnson to the hospital have also been interviewed and released, police said.
