Tulsa County Sheriff's deputies arrested one of their own on charges of carrying contraband into the jail for a $100 payment, a news release says.

According to TSCO, detention officer Cory Laddel Jones, 22, was arrested about 8 p.m., after a cell phone was found hidden inside a jail cell.

An inmate told officers that Jones was paid to sneak in tobacco, marijuana and a cell phone with a charger into the jail, an arrest report says.

Jones met with a woman in a QuikTrip parking lot to obtain packages to deliver to inmate William Hecimovich, according to the report.

Investigators searched phone calls made from inside the jail and found Hecimovich's call to a woman asking her when she was going to meet with the guard, the report says. In a second call, Hecimovich told the woman that once the guard brought the cell phone to her, she needed to replace both his and the guard's name with fake ones and also erase the guard's photo, the report says.

Deputies then went to the woman's home for an interview, and she told them she met with Jones twice at QT, the first time to give him tobacco, marijuana and a flip cell phone with a charger and SIM card. The second time she gave him tobacco, marijuana and a lighter, the report says.

"After the second meeting [the woman] stated she did not do anymore drops because she was nervous," the report says.

When investigators met with Jones at his apartment, he confessed, the report said.

"When asked if Jones knew what he was doing was illegal he stated ‘yes,' but felt like he was in over his head and couldn't ask for help," the report said.

Jones was booked for contraband, using a telephone to commit a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony. He is being held in lieu of more than $25,000 bond.
