Arkansas Veteran Recovering After Being Stabbed In OKC

Allen Greene is currently at the OU Medical Center, a long way from where he was headed on September 11, 2013. He was traveling by bus from Arkansas to Colorado to visit a dying relative, but ended up in the hospital himself.

"I've had the chance to think about what happened and it makes me mad," Allen Green said about the attack.

Greene, a U.S. veteran, compared his attack to war, but said he did not see it coming.

"He hit me from behind and knocked me down and the next time I woke up I was in the ICU," Greene said.

Thomas Powell is accused of stabbing Greene as he walked from the Union bus stop to a nearby restaurant during a layover in Oklahoma City.

"I figured I was a dead man," Greene said.

Greene said the knife went into his stomach and pierced his liver.

"No man has a right to take another man's life, there is only one man responsible for that and that is the man upstairs," he said.

Doctors say Greene will recover but that's the least of his worries. With many tears, Greene explained his brother-in-law is in Colorado dying, and he's stuck in the hospital instead of being with his family.

"When you have people you love and then you get hurt, and they can't depend on you, it hurts," Greene said.

Meanwhile, Powell is in the Oklahoma County Jail for robbery. His bond is set at $40,000.
