STILLWATER, Oklahoma -

A fraternity hazing initiation has left students at Oklahoma State University in shock as new details emerge in court documents. The accusations include using a loaded gun to scare new fraternity recruits.

The suspect, 22-year-old Owen Hossack, was in district court Monday for an arraignment hearing. Hossack faces two felonies, and his fraternity has been placed on a partial probation from the university.

Hossack, a former secretary of OSU's inter-fraternity council, was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho until he was expelled by both AGR and the university.

On August 6, OSU says Hossack used a loaded gun to scare two new fraternity recruits. The victims say Hossack pointed the gun at their heads and asked if they would take a bullet for their brothers. Then, police say, he fired the gun once. No one was injured.

Hossack has pleaded not guilty.

"I've never heard of anything like this happening at all," OSU student Sara Cotner said.

Junior Cameron Jones agrees.

"There probably is some hazing that probably still goes on at fraternities ... but to that extent, yeah, it's actually kind of surprising," said Jones.

Officials would not go on camera. In a statement, the university says Hossack has been expelled and Alpha Gamma Rho has been placed on a partial probation for the rest of the year. The fraternity must also undergo additional anti-hazing education and prevention training -- similar training Hossack himself had already completed.

Alpha Gamma Rho says Hossack's actions were in no way encouraged or condoned. Hossack's next court date has been set for early November. He faces two felony counts of pointing a firearm with intent to threaten.
