A former professor from the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee has pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen handgun.

Gene Nunn, 30, was indicted in August by a federal grand jury.

Federal prosecutors alleged in the fall of 2011, Nunn received at least 14 firearms from a co-conspirator, which he knew were stolen, then sold at least eight of them.

The U.S. Attorney's office in Muskogee says Nunn could be sentenced to not more than 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.

Nunn was put on administrative leave from the Okmulgee school following the indictment and resigned a short time later.
