TULSA, Oklahoma -

Kendall Austin was killed in an overnight shooting last week. The shooter got away and police are still investigating.

Destiny Adams said her soon-to-be husband was a loving man who cared for his family.

She is due to give birth to their baby in April.

"Anytime you were hurting or upset, Kendall was your go-to guy, you know?" Adams said. "He made everybody happy and...he was just an amazing man."

Austin was killed Tuesday in a drive-by shooting in front of a home in the 5000 block of 36th West Avenue.

Investigators said someone in a dark SUV opened fire on Austin and his friends. They said someone in the crowd fired back, and it became a shootout.

Police said witnesses weren't able to provide much of a description of the shooters or the vehicle.

Austin died at the hospital. He was only 23.

Austin also left behind a promising career at a Sapulpa Vapor Kings store.

"We felt like he was ready. The position came open and we promoted him right up to a management position, two weeks before he died and he was so, so proud," said Austin's former boss, Jennifer Griffin.

She said Austin's customers knew him by name.

"Kendall really brought sunshine into this store," Griffin said.

His family, both at work and at home, said he always brightened their day.

"Nobody will ever take his place--nobody, nobody," Adams said.

Austin's funeral is Friday.

If you have any information from last week's shooting, you're urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
