The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office deputies tased a Sand Springs teen three times after they say he became combative while resisting arrest early Sunday.

Derek Mangum was arrested after the incident in the 22000 block of West Coyote Trail at 2:45 a.m.

According to jail records, Tulsa County Sheriff's Office deputies were waiting on parents to come pick up minors who had been found to be drinking alcohol.  In the pickup truck, deputies found Mangum and two girls "sleeping heavily."

Mangum, who had turned 18 two days before his arrest, "had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath," the deputies' report states.

Deputies say the two girls, ages 13 and 14, were compliant when told to get out of the pickup and wait for their parents. They told deputies Mangum had supplied the alcohol.

Mangum reportedly tried to walk off, cursed at the sheriff's deputies and then resisted when they started to handcuff him.

Deputy Danny Childers Jr. said he warned Mangum he would be tased after the Sand Springs teen kicked him twice in the leg. After Mangum kicked again, the deputy tased the teen in the ribs. When Mangum continued to kick at the deputy, he was tased a second time.

Childers said a third deputy came to assist and Mangum tried to head butt him. Magnum was tased by a deputy for a third time, this time on the back of his leg.

Derek Mangum was finally handcuffed and taken to the Tulsa County Jail where he was booked on complaints of public intoxication, actual physical control, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and obstructing police.
