OKLAHOMA CITY -

Over the years, News 9 has introduced you to an 8-year-old boy named Fletcher Burns, who has been battling a rare disease all his life.

This year, EMSA paramedics want to make sure that little Fletcher has the time of his life on Halloween. They are taking him to trick-or-treat for the first time ever in his life.

Fletcher Burns spent seven years of his life battling an extremely rare disease called Epidermal Nevus Syndrome at the Children's Center in Bethany. Fletcher also had open heart surgery when he was 10 months old. He must use a ventilator to breathe.

News 9 was there when Fletcher was finally released from the hospital in February, 2013. But he requires nursing care 16 hours a day now that he lives with his family.

Fletcher has never gotten to trick-or-treat. But, that's about to change this year.

EMSA paramedics say they will pick up Fletcher and his family from their home, and transport them to their church in Bethany to trick-or-treat with other church members.

Fletcher's Mom, Denise, says Fletcher is thrilled to be in the care of medics for the night so that he can play with the other children.

EMSA medics Danielle Cain and Carey Crump say they will make sure Fletcher has a night filled with laughter and candy.
