Four Earthquakes Rock Central Oklahoma Saturday Morning

Four earthquakes rattled the central Oklahoma area Saturday morning.

The first one, a 3.7 magnitude earthquake, was recorded just after 4:30 a.m. Its epicenter was located five miles east, northeast of Edmond, 9 miles northwest of Choctaw, ten miles north of Midwest City, and 11 miles northeast of Oklahoma City. It was about three miles deep.

Another 2.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 5:41 a.m. Its epicenter was located four miles north of Spencer, six miles southeast of Edmond, and 11 miles northeast of Oklahoma City. It was also about three miles deep.

A 2.7 magnitude earthquake, was recorded just after 7 a.m. Its epicenter was located four miles northwest of Jones, seven miles east, southeast of Edmond, and 13 miles northeast of Oklahoma City.

It was also about three miles deep.

The latest one, a 3.6 magnitude earthquake, was recorded at 9:19 a.m. Its epicenter was located four miles north, northwest of Spencer, six miles southeast of Edmond, nine miles north of Midwest City, and ten miles northeast of Oklahoma City. It was about three miles deep.

Many News 9 viewers in the central Oklahoma area, including Oklahoma City, Edmond, Moore, Midwest City, and Del City reported feeling the latest earthquake.

No damage or injuries were immediately reported in the affected areas.

Scientists say an earthquake "swarm" continues to affect central Oklahoma nearly two years after a record 5.6-magnitude quake rattled the state. A new report by the U.S. and Oklahoma geological surveys says more than 200 magnitude 3.0 or greater earthquakes have hit Oklahoma's midsection since January 2009.
