Oklahoma Wesleyan University has announced a program to help students repay their student loans once they graduate.

According to the Bartlesville school's web site, the loan repayment assistance program called PURSUE is patterned after a program started at Yale University in 1989.

The school says upon graduation, OWU will partner with students with low to moderate income and help them to repay their federal student loans, private alternative student loans and parent PLUS loans.

School president Dr. Everett Piper says they recognize paying off college loans can be a burden and OWU wants to take away some of that stress.

"OWU is passionate about giving every student the opportunity to pursue the truth of Christ and truth of Scripture and our PURSUE program allows them to do so without undue concern about repayment of student loans," said Dr. Everett Piper.

Under PURSUE, Oklahoma Wesleyan University says students must graduate with a bachelors degree from the school and be employed a minimum of 30 hours a week.

Dr. Piper says this program is the only one like it in the state of Oklahoma.
