Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy met with the media on Monday to discuss the Cowboys' upcoming contest against Texas. The Longhorns will present a far tougher matchup than the hapless Jayhawks, but Gundy noted with 71 players on OSU's roster from the state of Texas, the Cowboys enjoy playing south of the Red River. Here are some more news and notes from Gundy's press conference.

• Gundy said his team has been consistent on defense and needs to find the same kind of consistency on offense. Run-blocking will be an area of emphasis after the Cowboys managed just 85 yards rushing against Kansas.

• Speaking of the ground game, Gundy said the Jayhawks committed to stopping the run. "If we had to do it all over again we'd probably have thrown more passes downfield."

• The Cowboys hope to get receiver Josh Stewart back by Wednesday. Stewart left Saturday's game in the first quarter with an ankle injury and didn't return.

• As far as injuries are concerned, Gundy said the Cowboys have been fortunate in that area so far. He said a big factor in the team's success has been depth, the ability to replace experienced players with other experienced players. "That allows us to keep our gameplan and not be so vanilla like we've had to in the past."

• Gundy said he expects Texas to try to pound the football on the ground this weekend and also directed a few compliments toward the Longhorns in the trenches. "Texas is probably the best in this league up front on both sides of the ball," Gundy said. "They cause a lot of issues in their ability to rush the passer."

• On what to expect from UT defensively – "Texas is going to put one more guy in the box and play man," Gundy said. "So you gotta be able to throw the ball effectively down the field. And if not, it's hard for six guys to block seven and it's hard for five guys to block six, so you have to take advantage of whatever the other team gives you."

• When asked whether he'd had a run-in with Bevo on the sidelines before, Gundy joked, "Most of the time I've seen him he's hanging out against that back wall. Looks like theyre trying to keep him awake to be honest with you."

• The Cowboys and Longhorns kick off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
