The Children's Center hosted a unique tree lighting to kick off their annual "Holiday Helpers" donation drive. The tree was made of 1,400 diapers, representing the number of diapers Children's Center patients go through every day.
Complete with Christmas carols and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, patients marked the start of the Children's Center's biggest donation campaign.
While diapers are the biggest need, they use about 500,000 every year, there are plenty of other needs in order for the center to provide 24/7 care to their 90 plus patients every day. They said no donation would be too big or too small.
"If we receive diapers, we won't have to use our monetary funds to go purchase those diapers so we can maybe go focus on technology for our children to help them communicate or play on the computer," explained Melissa Richey with The Children's Center.
