Police arrest a woman accused of trying to run over a police officer.

Kreidaesha Topaz Clay, 26, was arrested on Sunday, December 1, following a disturbance call at 12601 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. According to a police report, a man called to report Clay was harassing him and would not leave. It was the second time police had responded to the scene. Earlier, officers had asked Clay to leave the area.

This time when they arrived, they saw Clay leaving the apartment complex in a car. As she waited for the security gate to open, an officer stopped behind her and turned on his emergency lights. The report states another officer waited in front of her car on the other side of the gate. When the gate opened, police say she tried to take off, despite the officer waving her down with a flashlight and commanding her to stop.

Police say the officer had to quickly dodge the car as it approached him. The car still struck the officer in the arm, according to the report. Clay continued on for approximately 50 feet before stopping the car. Officers arrested Clay.

Officers searched her car and found a pill bottle containing .20 grams of a green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana and an open bottle of Smirnoff vodka in her purse.

Clay was booked on complaints of assault with a deadly weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, possession of controlled dangerous substance, marijuana and transporting an open container of alcohol.
