CLAREMORE, Oklahoma -

Two survivors of the Hiroshima atomic bomb are in Oklahoma, sharing their stories.

Monday night, Toshiko Tanaka spoke at Rogers State University. She was just 2 years old when the bomb was dropped. She hopes her story will help students connect the past and present.

"In the get-go, in the beginning, all the students were considering it was just about history. But after the accident in Chernobyl, as well as Fukushima, they realize radiation is part of their generation and their future," Tanaka said.

The survivors have several other speaking engagements across the area.

The University of Tulsa History Club says the main event will be a lecture Wednesday, December 4 at 7 p.m. at the Chapman Lecture Hall.
