For the first time in his career, Oklahoma State senior guard Markel Brown was named the Big 12 Conference's Player of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.

Brown averaged 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds as Oklahoma State recorded wins over Delaware State (75-43) and Colorado (78-73). The senior guard turned in his top performance against the No. 20 Buffaloes, recording his third career double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. He also had 14 points in the win over DSU.

For the week, Brown shot 61.1 percent (11-of-18) and connected on 14-of-17 (.824) from the free throw line while adding four assists, three steals and just two turnovers in 59 minutes. The scoring effort versus CU moved him into the top 20 on the OSU career scoring list.

Brown is the second Cowboy to receive all-conference weekly honors this season. Marcus Smart was named the Big 12's Player of the Week on Nov. 25 for his efforts against nationally ranked Memphis.
