OWASSO, Oklahoma -

Folks in Owasso teamed up to encourage children to make better food choices.

They're also had some fun in the process.

On Wednesday, kids were so excited about a chance to take home one of the free footballs being tossed around by the folks from Bailey Medical Center.

The hospital's hoping they can get the kids excited about making better food and activity choices, and grow into healthier adults.

So they've brought along some friends.

The Chic Fil-A cow, and Volt, the mascot from the Tulsa Shock.

Each of the kids got a Play Passport.

PLAY is an acronym for Parents Learning Activity Youth

David Steward with the Bailey Medical Center said, "The idea behind the passport is they can go to Chic-Fil-A, get a fruit cup instead of fries, double apples and a happy meal get a sticker for the passport."

Fill up the passport with stickers and get tickets to a sports game like the Shock or Drillers.

Now I know what you're thinking, fast food, and fitness. Really?

"At all those restaurants there are options," Steward said. "Give them the ability to make the choice."

Better choices ultimately equals better health.

There are pep rallies scheduled for all eight elementary schools in Owasso to encourage the kids to eat healthy and be active.
