Yukon Police Car Hits, Kills Pedestrian Early Saturday Morning

YUKON, Oklahoma -

A pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a Yukon police car early Saturday morning.

According to Yukon police, at about 4:50 a.m., a police cruiser driven by a Yukon officer hit a pedestrian in the 400 block of S. Ranchwood, just a few blocks from the police station.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he was not in a cross walk at the time of the accident.

The officer was on duty, and had just left the police station when the crash occurred. Police say the officer was shaken up and will take a few days off to recover.

Police have not identified the pedestrian. The crash is still under investigation at this time.
