The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the driver of a Freightliner truck is dead after his semi hit a culvert and burst into flames. The crash took place at 10:40 p.m. Saturday about four miles east of Sallisaw on Interstate 40.
The man's name has not yet been released.
Troopers say his 2008 Freightliner was eastbound on I-40 when it left the highway for an unknown reason, went airborne and hit a concrete culvert, busting into flames. The condition of the driver at the time of the wreck is still under investigation.
Sallisaw firefighters, the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office and Pafford EMS assisted in the crash.
