Norman police have peacefully resolved a standoff without incident or injury.

It started after an alleged mental patient threatened to kill himself, and barricaded himself inside a house Friday afternoon.

According to police, the man was armed and barricaded himself inside a house, located in the 1600 block of Farmington Ave.

At about 1:15 p.m. a family member and a doctor told responding officers that the man took lots of medicines, and made threats that if anyone tries to get him out of the house, he would kill himself, and/or the police officers.

Norman SWAT also responded to the scene. Authorities blocked off the neighborhood as they investigated the situation.

The house is located near Monroe Elementary. No schools were placed on lockdown. Norman public schools officials talked with Norman police, and decided that a lockdown was unnecessary.
