TULSA, Oklahoma -

A little over two inches of snow is causing numerous traffic headaches in the City of Tulsa. Police have been on "Operation Slick Streets" since a little after 9 a.m.

The greatest number of wrecks have been reported in hillier areas down south. Police blocked off parts of Sheridan at 65th Street at one point to keep additional cars from going off the road or sliding into each other.

Captain Steve Odom with the Tulsa Police Department said officers have been stretched thin responding to weather-related calls.

"We still have quite a few reported collisions going out," he said just before noon. "They are all over town, not just in one certain police division.

Odom said officers have been trying to keep drivers from going up Signal Hill in South Tulsa - south of 81st on Yale. They've also been turning drivers away from the 71st and Sheridan area where there have been numerous wrecks.

Crews are depleted on a weekend already, and some departments had additional people off for Super Bowl Sunday.

Also just before noon, traffic is backed up on Memorial between 51st and 61st as drivers try to gun it up the hills and bury themselves, according to News On 6 reporter Dave Davis, who sent in a photo of his fellow drivers.
