Sooners Grab Road Win Against Kansas

Aaryn Ellenberg scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half as the Oklahoma Sooners took down Kansas, 81-71 on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, Oklahoma improved to 15-9 this season and moved to 6-5 in conference play, good for fifth in the Big 12 standings.

The Sooners now enter a crucial three-game stretch against West Virginia, Oklahoma State and Texas that could go a long way toward determining the Sooners' ability to make the NCAA tournament.

Ellenberg led four Oklahoma players in double figures. Morgan Hook had 15 points while Nicole Kornet had 11 points, connecting on 3-of-4 from 3-point range. Nicole Griffin had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Natalie Knight had 25 points to lead Kansas. Knight hit 6-of-9 from 3-point range. Markisha Hawkins had 16 points and Asia Boyd and Chelsea Gardner each scored 10 points.

The Sooners had a big advantage in several key areas. OU outscored Kansas in the paint, 40-24 and also scored 22 points off 16 Jayhawk turnovers. OU also had 16 second-chance points thanks to 12 offensive rebounds.

The Sooners begin their three-game stretch on Thursday night at 6 p.m. against West Virginia in Norman.
