OKLAHOMA CITY -

A growing number of schools around the country are fighting gun violence, arming teachers and other employees, including our neighbors to the east. Visitors to Arkansas Christian Academy just outside Little Rock are greeted with a sign to let intruders know they will be shot.

ACA Pastor Perry Black said, "we are willing to do what is necessary to slow them down, talk them down or if we have to, we'll lay them down."

Arkansas state law prohibits guns on public school campuses, but there's an exception for private schools and licensed security guards. So, several public schools like Clarksville spent $70,000 on firearms training for 22 teachers and other employees, to allow them to pack heat on campus.

"The window of time between when they enter and start shooting people and when the police arrive, too many damage occurs," Clarksville Schools Superintendent David Hopkins said.
