It's no secret that kids like the snow.
It's probably because it could mean sledding and even snow days, but when the snow plow man comes through, that's when parents become as happy as the kids.
For most of us, shoveling our snow is a mundane winter task, but for some, it's a small business.
When the snow starts falling, Derick Herrington is ready to go.

While city streets and highways are taken care of by the city and ODOT, EWF and other small businesses plow everything else.
With 15 contract properties, EWF deploys all its plows without a call. But the drivers still leave time for call-ins, and while plowing is just a small part of his business, it's still worth the effort.
"You got to be pretty competitive, but yeah you can make some money doing it," said Herrington. "You know, it pays or we wouldn't be out here in the cold doing it. That's for sure."
