Oklahoma City police are investigating after a woman and a dog were found dead early Thursday morning in a busy northwest side intersection.
Officers closed the intersection of N. Rockwell Avenue and N.W. 63rd as they investigated the scene. Police say they were first called out to the intersection for a vehicle accident with injury. When they arrived, they found the woman and a dog.
Police believe the woman, later identified as 75-year-old Patsy Ryan, was trying to get the dog out of road when a car going northbound on Rockwell hit and killed her. Police say the driver of the car was not impaired.
Rockwell between N.W. 63rd and Woodlake was closed during the investigation. The Medical Examiner arrived at the scene at about 7 a.m.
Police say it's unclear if the dog was already dead when Ryan tried to get it out of road, or if the car hit and killed both Ryan and the dog at the same time.
