TULSA, Oklahoma -

The Tulsa Fire Department rescued a worker who was replacing a broken window on a downtown office building late Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the Williams Two office building at 2nd and Boulder just after 11 p.m.

Fire officials said an American Glass worker was outside the building on ropes replacing a broken window on the 16th floor. They said gusty winds caused one of the ropes to get tangled with a light pole on the street below.

The owner of American Glass says that they work 24-7 due to the unpredictability of how damaged glass can fall from a building which can create a danger for folks on the ground.

The fire department used a bucket truck to rescue the worker.

"We just lifted the bucket up to him, got him in the bucket. Once he was safe, we cut the rope and came down," said Tulsa firefighter Mike Atkins.

It took about 30 minutes for firefighters to get the man safely on the ground. They say he was not injured.

The owner of American Glass also said they were not the ones who called the fire department and that three men crews work these types of jobs and they were sending down replacement ropes for the worker at the time.

No word on how the window on the building was broken.
