Oklahoma City Barons defenseman Brad Hunt was named a Second Team American Hockey League All Star, the league's front office announced today.
Hunt, a 5-9, 174-pounder from Ridge Meadow, B.C., has been among the most consistent performers for the Barons this season. Through 62 games, he's recorded 49 points (11-38-49). His 49 points established a Barons franchise record for points by a defenseman, besting 2013 AHL Defenseman of the Year Justin Schultz's total of 48 set just last season. His 49 points is good for fourth among AHL rearguards, while his goal total places him third.
Hunt earned his first call up to the NHL this season, appearing in three games with the Edmonton Oilers.
The Oklahoma City Barons quest for a spot in the Calder Cup playoffs continues this weekend with a two-game set against the Abbotsford Heat in Abbotsford. Faceoff for Friday's game is 9 p.m. (ct), while faceoff Sunday is 3 p.m. (ct). The game Sunday can be seen LIVE across Canada on Sportsnet and in the U.S. on NHL Network.
