Severe Storms Threaten NE Oklahoma

TULSA, Oklahoma -

Severe storms continue to threaten much of northeast Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a severe thunderstorm warning Craig, Mayes, Nowata, Rogers and Wagoner Counties until 12:30 a.m.

They say golf ball size hail and 60 mile per hour winds could also be expected.

The NWS in Tulsa has also issued a severe thunderstorm watch across Oklahoma and Arkansas until 5 a.m.

The watch is issued for Adair, Cherokee, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Payne, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington Counties in Oklahoma and Benton and Washington Counties in Arkansas.

A flood advisory is also in effect for Rogers, Tulsa and Washington Counties until 12:45 a.m., according to the Tulsa NWS, cities that could be affected include Collinsville, Foyil and Claremore.

A flood advisory is also in effect for Ottawa County. The NWS said the advisory could be in effect until Sunday morning.

They say they expect the Neosho River near Commerce to rise to about 14.2 feet by Saturday morning. While this is below the flood stage, 15 feet, the NWS says people in the area should use extra caution or avoid recreational activities near the river.
