Swilling Making Change From Hardwood To Gridiron For Tulsa

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

Former Tulsa basketball player Pat Swilling Jr. is making plans on going from the hardwood to the gridiron for the Golden Hurricane.

The son of five-time Pro Bowler Pat Swilling Sr., Swilling is planning on playing football in the fall for Tulsa, and is currently working out with the football team.

The university released the following statement on Wednesday on Swilling's plans.

"Pat Swilling Jr. has plans to play football as a potential walk-on for the Golden Hurricane team this fall. The University of Tulsa is seeking an NCAA progress towards degree waiver for him to be eligible in the sport of football. He has exhausted his eligibility in men's basketball. Pat is currently taking summer classes and working out with the football team during the summer conditioning program.

Swilling was on the TU basketball team for two seasons (2012-13 and 2013-14) after transferring from the College of Southern Idaho. He averaged 9.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in 24.4 minutes in 46 career games."

Swilling was dismissed from the basketball team this year when he was under investigation for sexual assault. The university and Tulsa district attorney cleared him of any wrongdoing.
