Family Identified Man Killed In Shooting At Metro Hotel

One man is dead and police are still searching for the suspect after a shooting in northwest Oklahoma City early Friday morning.

Family members confirmed to News 9 the victim is Keon Johnson, 22. His family is heartbroken over his death.

Oklahoma City Police say a fight broke out at an after party at the Residence Inn near Reno and Meridian and spilled out into the parking lot. Police say someone started shooting shortly after 1:00 a.m.

"Apparently there was quite a few rounds, just based on the casings we see out here," said Capt. Nate Tarver, Oklahoma City Police Department. "There were quite a few rounds and there were some strikes on the building."

Police say one person was hit in the head and went down. Family members say that man was Keon Johnson. He later died at the hospital.

Johnson's first cousin said he was very outgoing, well liked, and had a plethora of talents. He said, Johnson was very athletic, loved sports, and had a lively sense of humor.

In a statement to News 9, the family said, "He was a loving and a great friend, cousin, nephew, brother, and son. My cousin will be greatly missed and never forgotten."

As they mourn the loss, the search is on for the person who shot Johnson.

"Witnesses state that a silver, late model boxy vehicle left the scene," said Capt. Tarver. "We are trying to piece together the vents as it stands right now."

Police have not released a description of the suspect. They say they're still working on nailing down witnesses statements.

"Right now, the information we are getting is pretty sketchy, pretty limited as to give us any type of direction to finalize, get closer to what we're looking for," said Capt. Tarver.

Police are hoping someone at the hotel, who saw something will lead them to Johnson's shooter.
