The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality says Thursday is an “Ozone Alert” for the Tulsa area.

They say people with lung or heart disease should be aware that increased pollution may cause them to experience adverse health effects Thursday.

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says the temperatures Thursday won’t be as hot as they were on Wednesday, but the break will be short lived as high temperatures return Friday and into the weekend.

The National Weather Service has an Excessive Heat Watch for Osage, Pawnee and Tulsa counties from Friday morning to Saturday evening.

Crone says temperatures will climb to near 100 degrees across eastern Oklahoma. Combine that with high humidity and afternoon heat indices will range from 105 to 110 both days.

He says the hot weather should continue into the beginning of next week. Crone says there is a chance of rain in the forecast starting Monday.
