A three-run third inning was all the Nashville Sounds needed, as they went on to beat the Oklahoma City RedHawks, 3-1, at Greer Stadium Monday night.

The Sounds took three of four games in the series and finished the season series by winning 10 of 16 games against the RedHawks, marking the first time since 2007 the Sounds won 10 games over Oklahoma City.

It was also the final time the RedHawks played at Greer Stadium, finishing with an all-time record of 68-69.

The Sounds broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the third inning, even though they collected just one hit. RedHawks pitcher Mike Foltynewicz issued four walks in the inning and also hit a batter.

Eugenio Velez plated the first run with a RBI single. With the bases loaded and two outs, Sean Halton and Caleb Gindl drew back-to-back walks to put two more runs on the board.

The RedHawks collected a hit and a pair of walks to load the bases with two outs in the fifth, but Sounds pitcher Ariel Pena got a broken-bat groundout by Jonathan Villar to escape the inning and keep the RedHawks scoreless.

The RedHawks were able to score in the next inning. With none on and two out, Preston Tucker walked and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Domingo Santana followed with a RBI single to pull Oklahoma City within 3-1.

Unlike Sunday, there would be no late comeback. The RedHawks collected two hits over the final two innings and were held to just one run. Carlos Perez kept the game alive with a two-out single in the ninth inning, but Sounds reliever Alfredo Figaro got Max Stassi ground out to end the game, as Figaro picked up his second save.

Even though the RedHawks outhit the Sounds, 6-3, the RedHawks were held to one or no runs for the fifth time in the last seven games. Pena (8-6) tossed six strong innings, allowing one run and four hits. He notched eight strikeouts and four walks.

The RedHawks pitching staff allowed just three hits, all of which were singles, and they held the Sounds hitless over the final four innings. Foltynewicz, Patrick Urckfitz, and Richard Rodriguez combined to strike out 13 batters, tying the team's season high for most strikeouts in a nine-inning game. The trio retired 12 of the final 13 Nashville hitters.

With 10 strikeouts, Foltynewicz (7-7) became just the third pitcher in RedHawks history to record three double-digit strikeout games in one season, joining Joaquin Benoit (2001) and Edinson Volquez (2006). He ended up with his seventh quality start in his last eight road starts, allowing three runs and three hits over six innings. However, he also issued five walks, and ultimately the third inning did him in.
