GRADY COUNTY, Oklahoma -

A high-speed chase Friday morning on Interstate 44 near Chickasha involved a $90,000 stolen Mercedes sports car and Grady County Sheriff Jim Weir.

Weir was on his way to work at 8:15 a.m. when the Oklahoma Highway Patrol sent out an alert about a pearl white stolen Mercedes SL550 from Lawton.

Aaron Rhodes, 18, was driving the stolen Mercedes.

He led Sheriff Weir, Undersheriff Nathan Pyle and the Assistant Newcastle Police Chief on a chase that exceeded 130 miles per hour.

Weir says Rhodes ran the Mercedes into the back of a pickup truck near mile marker 108 before crashing into the center median.

Rhodes gave up after a short foot chase.

Sheriff Weir says Rhodes was not only driving a stolen car, he was also carrying a bank card and identification belonging to another man and computer equipment that didn't belong to him as well.

“He was actually breaking into people's houses in the middle of the night while they were asleep and taking those things,” the sheriff said.

Rhodes is being held in the Grady County jail. He has a long juvenile crime record, but he recently turned 18 years old.

The sheriff says Rhodes will be charged with at least four felonies.
