Police Reopen Street Near East Tulsa Apartments After Man Surrenders

Police reopened an east Tulsa street Monday morning, after a man who claimed to have a hostage in his apartment surrendered peacefully.

Police said the man claimed to have a female hostage at the Bradford Creek Apartments in the 3100 block of South 108th East Avenue.

Officers closed South 108th East Avenue between 31st and 33rd streets at 5:30 a.m. Police said the 57-year-old man walked out of his apartment and surrendered to officers at about 8:30 a.m.

They said the man did not have a hostage as he had claimed.

Police no shots were fired during the incident. Officer Leland Ashley says a mental health professional was sent to the scene to offer the man help.

As a precaution, police asked several businesses in a strip mall across the street to delay opening.
