A Vinita Police officer is behind bars after prosecutors say he had sex with his girlfriend's teenage daughter. According to court documents, Sgt. Sean Floyd faces two counts each of second-degree rape, lewd molestation; three counts of sodomy; and one count of lewd or indecent proposals to a child under 16 and rape by instrumentation.

Prosecutors said the charges very serious; but a friend of Floyd believes he's innocent and would never think he was capable of doing such things.

An OSBI Agent arrested the Vinita police officer after the bureau was asked to investigate complaints that he had sex with an underage girl; at this time, agents believe only one victim is involved.

Court records claim Floyd, 35, had sexual contact with the girl between April and August.

At Thursday's bond hearing in the Craig County Courthouse, Floyd's attorney argued he wasn't a danger to the public and wasn't a flight risk.

In the courtroom, prosecutors claimed Floyd had sex with his girlfriend's daughter, who according to court documents was 14 at the time.

Prosecutor Larry Edwards, said, "We obviously take any case seriously involving abuse of a minor child, but it's also very troubling any time there's a police officer involved."

Edwards said the charges against Floyd are extremely troubling, and that the sex acts weren't performed while Floyd was on duty.

“This was not related to work in anyway, that was his occupation, but it had nothing to do with the allegations themselves," said Edwards.

Floyd's neighbors were shocked to hear of his arrest.

"He didn't cause any problems or anything,” Clyde Bailey said. “He was just kind of a quiet guy."

Bailey said he enjoys the security of having a police officer in the neighborhood.

"So it's sad to hear that if it's true. It's going to ruin his life," he said.

Friends of Floyd called him a dedicated public servant and that he was a loving father to his children.

The judge set Floyd's bond at $150,000 and ordered him to have no contact with the victim or the victim's family. The judge also ordered Floyd to surrender his firearms to his attorney.

At Thursday's bond hearing, the prosecutor said Floyd was suspended from the Vinita Police Department.
