Tulsa Police arrested a truck driver Tuesday night who they say kept going after his truck knocked down high-voltage power lines.

Officers said it happened just after 10 p.m. at 46th and Peoria.

Police said Eric Gedeon, 38, of Norman, tried to free his truck from the lines by backing up and then driving forward. Police said that broke the lines and damaged a pole. PSO workers said when the electric lines broke, they caused a transformer to blow.

Officers arrested Gedeon about an hour later after a witness talking to a police dispatcher followed the semi to the 6800 block of north Highway 75.

PSO said damage to the lines, a pole and the transformer totals about $15,000. Workers finished repairing the damage at about 3 a.m.

Gedeon was booked into the Tulsa County jail on a complaint of leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Jail records show he has a court appearance set for October 7, 2014.
