Sand Springs Police are looking for a man they say robbed a Payless Shoe Store at knife point Friday evening. Deputy Chief of Police Mike Carter issued a description of the robber and what is believed to be his getaway car.

The man robbed the Payless at 3917 South Highway 97 at about 8:30 p.m., Carter said.

Carter said the robber spoke to the two female clerks and went to the men's section of the store, selecting a pair of shoes. When he got to the cash register, he pulled out the knife and demanded money.

The man made the women go to the back of the store after they complied with his demands. He fled the store after hearing a car alarm go off outside, police say.

The man is described as a white, 35 to 40 years of age, 6 feet tall and about 180 pounds. He had close-shaven hair with stubble on his head and face that looked "dirty blond," according to a news bulletin.

He was wearing a red OU hoodie and knee-length blue jean shorts. The robber left in a silver, older model car with a loud exhaust from a damaged muffler.

If you see him or know anything about the robbery, call Sand Springs Police at 918-245-8777.
