TU Shut Out By UConn

The Tulsa men's soccer team fell to UConn, 2-0, on Saturday night at Morrone Stadium in Storrs, Conn. TU dropped to 6-5-1 on the season and 2-2 in the American Athletic Conference, while the Huskies moved to 4-5-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the league.

“The demands of the game required good performances from the majority of our team and we might have had good performances from three players,” Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. “It was disappointing. There are a number of reasons for our performance tonight, but we can't make excuses. We need to come ready to play every game. UConn played well, and based on what we've seen this was their best performance of the year, so you have to give them credit. We held possession most of the second half, but we didn't create enough chances and we didn't get the ball forward tonight.”

Kwame Awuah put UConn on the board at the 38:20 mark, and then in the 83rd minute Cyle Larin gave the Huskies a two-goal cushion.

Geoffrey Dee and Austin Neil both had two shots, while Tony Rocha added one attempt. Brandon Hanat played the full 90 minutes in goal and had five saves.

Tulsa will return to action on Friday, Oct. 17th against Memphis. Game time is set for 6:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
