Fire Destroys Charter Bus On The Broken Arrow Expressway

Fire destroyed a charter bus in the westbound lanes of the Broken Arrow Expressway Sunday afternoon.

The Tulsa Fire Department received numerous 911 calls about the fire which occurred near the Memorial Driver exit ramp at about 5:30 p.m.

Police said flames from the fire in the engine compartment moved rapidly towards the back seats of the Kincaid bus as the driver pulled over and got out.

Officers said the driver was the only one on the bus at the time. Only one lane of the highway was closed for a time as firefighters put out the fire.

Police said the driver was not injured and firefighters believe a mechanical malfunction in the engine compartment was to blame for the fire.
