The Tulsa Area Red Cross is helping three adults who were displaced by a small fire Sunday afternoon.

Tulsa Fire District Chief Dale Cooley said his crews were called out at 1:30 p.m. to a balcony fire at a complex near 81st and Riverside. It didn't take long to get the fire out, though they feared at one point that flames had gone into the attic.

"Our guys were able to locate the apartment very quickly,"Cooleyy said. "The damage was pretty well isolated to the balcony area. We didn't have any extension into the attic or other apartments."

Cooley said he believed the fire was caused by someone smoking and not disposing of their cigarette butts safely, but investigators will determine the official cause.
