TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa Police said a driver wasn't hurt when a car hit a deer Tuesday morning on Highway 169 just north of I-244.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m.

Police said the driver of a silver Infiniti sedan was southbound on 169 when the deer ran across the highway. Officers said the driver tried to avoid the animal but was unsuccessful.

The driver pulled over and stopped on the ramp to westbound I-244. The crash backed up southbound traffic on Highway 169.

The deer died after the impact and police say the car is probably a total loss.
