TULSA, Oklahoma - Longtime Red Cross volunteer and former Tulsa Public Schools counselor Marge Creager passed away at age 90.

Marge Creager joined the American Red Cross in 1946 and responded to just about every major disaster over several decades.

She died Saturday, January 24, 2015. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Moore's Southlawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2015, at Asbury United Methodist Church.

Creager first volunteered for the Red Cross as a swim instructor. Her career with the group would span 67 years and include responding to hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and countless home fires, according to the Red Cross.

She served on the front lines after the Los Angeles earthquake in 1994 and was at Ground Zero after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

"About her Red Cross service, I recall Marge saying, 'This is something you can do almost all your life if your health permits you doing it. It's something you would never be sorry from and you could say goodbye to this good world knowing that you have done the best you can and it would just leave you with a wonderful feeling,'" said Executive Director Regina Moon of the Tulsa Area Chapter.

"She's inspired me in my Red Cross service and will be sorely missed."

In 2011, the Tulsa Area Chapter honored Marge with the “Heart and Hand” award in recognition of her commitment. In 2012 she was presented the Live United Volunteer of the Year award by the Tulsa Area United Way for her 64 years of volunteer service.

She was married to her Mac Creager, a former News On 6 sportscaster, for 54 years. She was a counselor at Memorial High School.

At the time of a News On 6 story in 2007, she worked part time as a therapist for troubled youth, taught senior Driver's Ed and helped female inmates in addition to her Red Cross work.
